So I’m an incoming freshman at Kean and I put my intended major down as English- Secondary Education when I applied. However, with a lot of thought and consideration about where I want to go in life, I decided to go back to my original dream career in Journalism. Should I contact Kean now and let them know I need to change my major, or is it too early for that? If it helps at all, I already registered for classes back in March. Just out of curiosity, can I even declare a major at any point in the upcoming fall semester? Thanks!
As long as it is within one school it should not matter.
Never hurts to contact them and ask.
Kean answers your question and even gives the how-to:

However, I would suggest that you look at the requirements for both majors as well as gen ed credits and see if you can delay changing your major for a term or two. College is different than high school and you may discover that you want to change it again, to something else. At most colleges (don’t know Kean particularly) you have a lot of room for trying things out the first year. If so, take advantage it.
Once you actually start, go pick up a major change form from the CAS building. It won’t matter as you’re only a freshman and taking general ed courses anyway. You don’t have to actually declare a major until mid sophomore year usually, anyways. JS
