I'm a freshman at NU, just finished up first quarter, and now I would like to switch meal plans because frankly, 13 meals/week is not working out.

It's not so much that I need more than 13 meals, but I want a plan that's more flexible - I feel like if I don't eat at the dining halls 13 times each week, I'm losing money, because the meals don't carry over.

I briefly looked over the Block meal plans, but I'm not sure what I prefer yet. Any suggestions?

Block C and D are both great because they have meal equivalencies (you can spend up to $8.50 at Norris during dinnertime hours and have it count as a meal). You lose out on a ton of actual food, but your flexibility and quality of food skyrockets.
Prior to joining my fraternity, I was on Block C and loved it. Another hidden cost of Block plans is social. Without the community of Allison, Elder, Sargent, or Hinman, Norris is lacking. As a freshmen, don't expect to meet anyone or for people to be especially cordial in Norris, which is often filled with professors and/or Kellogg study groups. I once made the mistake of talking too loudly next to a group of Kellogg students studying for an exam...Never Again will I make the same mistake.

It's all about Block D. If I weren't on the fraternity meal plan I would be all over that. And it's perfect because it's the same price as 13/week.
