I have registered for Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics level 2 tests (3 subjects)which will be held on May 2nd. The fees is already paid through credit card. Now i wish to postpone my Mathematics level 2 to June 6. Kindly advice if i can appear for Physics and chemistry subject tests on MAy 2nd and Mathematics Level 2 tets on June 6.
Kindly advice the procedure to do so.
Thank you
Are you concerned about getting a refund for the one test? First of all, there’s a base fee of like $25 for every subject test date, so there’s no way you won’t get some additional charge.
If you just don’t take one of the tests on test day, they’ll cancel the score and it doesn’t matter. It would make sense that you should get a refund for the extra $16 test if you let them know this far in advance because it won’t interfere with their scheduling whatsoever. I would call them since they’re super unclear about this online.
I don’t know if you’ve taken subject tests before, but it’s surprisingly casual in some ways. Everyone in the room is taking whichever test they want in whichever order they want. If they only ordered two, they can take a third and get billed the extra $16 (I don’t believe there’s a late fee). It doesn’t matter which order a student takes the tests in either, no matter what they put in the registration. If they signed up for US History, Math Level 1, and Chem, they could take Math Level 2, Spanish (without listening), and Physics that day without any problem or change to their registration. They would just fill in the appropriate bubble at the top of the page stating which test they were taking.
After the first hour long section, some kids leave, and after the second one, a few more kids leave. The only way the test rooms are grouped is by whether you’re taking the Reasoning Test or the Subject Tests. The Subject Test takers in any given classroom can vary greatly in which tests they are taking, in which order they take them, and how many tests they are taking.
Basically, sign up for the one test on June 6, and try to bug them for a refund for the one on May 2.
This is totally up to you, but I’d consider taking the Math Level 2 test on both dates. I’m retaking mine in about a week. For subject tests, I don’t see why a college would care about the lower score out of the two, but maybe ask an admissions person at a college you’re interested in about that. I personally found the Math Level 2 test to be surprisingly hard. Conceptually it wasn’t so bad, but speed ended up being pretty important. 50 questions in 60 minutes is kinda brutal. I filled out all As for the last 10 or so questions of the test because I was running out of time, and I still ended up with a 650, so the curve is pretty generous. You can get quite a few questions wrong and get an 800 according to the CB’s own rubric.
If you’ve taken subject tests before and still had to read all of that, I’m sorry. Good luck!
@alternative33
To confirm, I can sign up for two random SAT Subject tests for June and only decide which two I take once I get there? This would be helpful because I’m not completely sure yet. (And sorry for the hijack, although hopefully my question was relevant enough.)
@Woandering
Correct.
Thanks a lot alternative33 i have never take subject tests before and this was extremely helpful
