and my New SAT is:
m: 650
v:610
w:620
essay:9
Taking it again next weekend

Could you please rank my chances?

Rank: 4/151
GPA: (UW) about 3.8, almost 3.9 ; (W) 4.006
ECs: Not a lot because my school has been in debt for the past few years and barely offers enough classes for the school year, much less has any clubs or lots of sports. I did do JV Softball for 9,10, tried out for Varsity in 11, but was cut for a myriad of reasons, which all meant one thing: I wasn't popular enough for the other girls because I'm quieter. Therefore, I'm going to try out for soccer for 12, but it's in the spring. I did Reading Club 9,10, but it was canceled when the teacher was fired and no teachers wanted to take it over as a sponsor (we have to have teachers sponsor a club and it has to be held at school for any of them to count as school clubs). I have NHS for 10,11,12 and have done 50 hours of tutoring and other activities through the organization. I was a member of the Costa Rica group for Cultural Awareness Day and we won first place for our presentation. I did YABA Bowling for a year and a half, and found it so not my sport. My school doesn't have a newspaper or lit magazine (yearbook, but it's a class and scheduling kept me from it), otherwise I would have joined. I do enjoy writing when I have the time, and I have sent stories to Cicada Magazine, Cemetery Dance Magazine, and ByLine Magazine, a la Stephen King. I'm hoping to get back into the groove of writing more and getting published eventually for some.
Honors: English Award of the Year- 11
Tons of "merit" certificates for my classes for having All As for the year (all but math- I always manage at least one B a year and I don't get a certificate for that class)
NHS (ran for VP, but was told I wasn't aggressive enough for it, and they gave it to someone who is just as quiet as I am, and has as much aggressiveness as a blank piece of paper)
ACT: 27, retaking October (bombed the science bit, it was so hot when I took the June test!)
SAT Subjects: Taking in November, preparing for Biology E/M, also taking Literature and US History.
APs: School only offers 2 APs a year at another school for junior/senior years; schedule wouldn't allow it last year, so I only have AP English Lit and APUSH. I was originally gonna go to the school THIS YEAR for another three classes in the morning (first year having it in morning too), but they canceled two and I couldn't do the morning anymore.
Senior Year Classes: Spanish (3rd year), Independent Study: Biology/Physics (Physics/Advanced Bio classes canceled this year), Pre-Calculus, Environmental Geology, Independent Study: World History (this class was canceled too), AP English Lit, and APUSH.
Plans for Future: Film Major and English Major; also applying to Northwestern, UMich, Cornell, URochester, among a few others.

Any input is helpful, thanks.

for CEAST05: i think that if you raise your sat scores just a little bit and have good essays and recommendations then you are definitely IN>>>>>>> Chapel THRILL

mwbashful18: i think that you should build up your extracurricular activities....the admissions people want to see that you stuck with something for a while. its good that you are a good writer and that will help you on your essay....on your appliation don't list lots of different extra curriculars just list your main ones....don't worry about not having alot of ap's because your school with have to send a 'school profile' to carolina detailing courses offered......

any more questions just ask!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I am an IN STATE student.

Are you an NC resident or are you out of state? I would say that most of you who have posted do have a pretty good chance if you just contine with a strong essay.

That's all I can think of. I really hope I get accepted and recieve a large enough scholarship so that I can attend.

Thanks!!!

is it ridiculously hard to get in if youre out of state??

yes, yes it is
