Chapman early action class of 2024

Just got accepted as communications major!!! And Provost scholarship!

Son just got in with a Provost scholarship-- $28,000 a year. Still, Chapman is pretty expensive, even with that award.

@NorCalHipHop - That is a v good SAT score - and sounds like good ECs - sorry he did not get in but will certainly have other offers- what major did your son apply under?

My daughter was accepted to Animation/ Visual Effects!

GPA: 4.13
SAT: 1310

Accepted Computer Science
3.95 W

@NorCalHipHop - Sorry just saw your earlier post where you note son was applying for Comp Sci - I have been vary concerned about my son and other qualified Comp Sci applicants and their chances of getting admitted to this major - this has become an extremely popular major, and has resulted in a very competitive applicant pool with difficult “prerequisites.” Hoping your son hangs in there and that he gets admitted to a comp sci program that he will enjoy.

Can anyone shed light on the types of scholarships available? Does everyone admitted get a Dean’s ($20K/year)? A Provost is $28K/year; what are the monetary values of the Chancellors and Presidential scholarships?

I’m just going to throw this out to those who may read this for next year’s incoming class:

"We look at the entire student, not just their academic performance” - Clearly, based on what I have seen in this thread, that is not the case: all GPAs are over 3.5 and high SAT scores.

In regards to “Interest”: My son met with the Admissions Counselor at his school, we flew down to tour the campus, we attended Chapman Days, he had a Fellows Interview and met with his Admissions Counselor a second time. In addition, he opened every email that was sent to him.

Academic performance is likely heavily weighted, the ability to show advance academic performance via AP courses (which my son’s school does not offer) gives students a clear advantage.

It is heartbreaking to be told he has a “strong chance” only to be rejected - we assume - based on either an impacted CompSci major or his weighted GPA.

Last night was a rough night for my son who will now turn his efforts to another school that is worthy of his brilliance. The best part, my son told me this morning: “Mom, college does not define me. I am still smart, innovative, and master of the design-thinking model.”

Congrats to everyone who did get in.
