Does anyone know the 2014 Acceptance Rate?

I know 2010 Acceptance Rate is 45%.

I got in!!! I’m beyond happy.

Got the email that I am in!
OOS
So happy right now. Good luck to everyone else waiting. Its painful .

Ha! I was right! I predicted the decision email to arrive at 5:50pm :disagree:

Hey everyone… this may seem like a stupid question but if you pay the deposit is it committing to CU? or just reserving a spot - I’m still waiting on another school which is out the coming Thursday and I don’t know if I should pay it anyway?

Congrats to everyone admitted and good luck to everyone else xx

Received decision email. Waitlisted

@Drivel‌ What major?

@joelleweb‌ wait till Thursday.

@wiifixp Philosophy. Not exactly a competitive major. My second choice was biological sciences

@wiifixp‌ thanks

Also did anyone else get the portal log in they said they would email? I didn’t haha

@Drivel‌ If you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats?

Would some be able to have an idea as to why I was rejected? I know it was a long shot, but hear me out.
Out of State
Major:Creative Writing
ACT: 24 (26 superscored)
English:30
Math:24
Reading:24
Science:24
Writing:11
GPA: 3.1, 3.2 when midyear report was sent (this is unweighted, I don’t know it weighted. I also attend a private school so we use a stricter grading scale, although I assume my GPA would not be much higher using the regular grading scale)
AP: I took GOV and English (3) junior year, I am currently taking psych and English. I did not report my GOV grade to Chapman, just English.
Senior year classes: AP Psych, AP English, Theology, Honors Chinese 3, Honors Physics
Extracurriculars: Volunteered at 2 hospitals, tutored at 2 elementary schools, lead bible school at 3 churches, volunteered at a soup kitchen, volunteered at a center for disabled children, Dance (jazz, contemporary, and hiphop)
Awards: 400 service hours award for completing over 400 service hours during the 2014-2014 school year, as well as completing the most service hours in my whole school this year, Silver and Honorable mention key for the regional competition for Scholastic Arts and Writing, Published in a student anthology 7 times for poetry and essay’s (6 times for Creative Communications, 1 for Library of Poetry)
My essays were rather good. I had a private tutor help me and she said it was the best she had ever seen, and she worked with kids who went to Harvard, UCLA, Yale, and so on.
I assume my recommendations were fine as well. I had two teachers and my college counselor write one.

THE ONE THING THAT MIGHT CHANGE MY APPLICATION:
So I know my application is honestly bad. My grades are not up to par and my ACT blows, BUT as a teenager I was diagnosed with major clinical depression and I mentioned in my application that this impacted me tremendously and disturbed my scores quite a bit all throughout high school, but I assume this probably wasn’t be taken into account with my application.

So I know my application is terrible, but I honestly though I had a good chance of getting in for several reasons:

  1. My major was creative writing, and who the heck majors in creative writing? It is a very unpopular major, and with my previous awards and English courses I thought my application would reflect that I am prepared for this major. And again, I figured it wouldn’t be too hard to get in with this major since not a lot of people apply for this.
  2. I always did well in my English classes (as shown with AP classes and my English and writing ACT score. So I thought this would further prove that I am prepared for a creative writing major.
    3.Chapman is very holistic.

So I guess I may have answered my own question with my GPA and ACT score being terrible, but anyone else have input as to why I would be rejected?

I hate to say it, but some schools are leery of taking a student with a history of mental illness even if it’s been overcome.

My understanding is that Creative Writing is fairly competative at Chapman.

Has anyone received financial/merit aid information from chapman that was accepted RD? Should i be expecting it online or by snail mail?

Admitted:
WGPA:3.54
UWGPA:3.41
ACT: 30

With 7.5K Hesperian Scholarshp

I would love to attend Chapman as it is a great school but I already committed to USD.

According to their blog, financial aid will be mailed in the coming weeks. Merit scholarships will come with your acceptance packet. I believe both will come via snail mail, but I could be wrong!
