Chapman vs. LMU vs. USC (Personal Dilemma)

Hey guys, let me quickly break down my situation. I’ve been accepted as a film studies major at Chapman (22k/yr scholarship), a production major at LMU (28k+/yr scholarship), and have been offered a spot in USC’s class of 2020 as part of the Trojan Transfer Plan (where I would study abroad my freshman year then transfer in as a sophomore). I know exactly what I want to do professionally, which is directing/cinematography/editing in film, so, in a broad sense, my question is where would be the most logical place to do that. My heart lies with USC, however there’s no guarantee into the film school even into my later collegiate years–although I could at least minor in production. I would already be a production major at LMU as a freshman (not to mention paying much less compared to my other choices), but I really don’t like the ‘feel’ of the school/campus, and would rather attend Chapman. However, I’m not sure how applying to double major in production or just switching my major altogether would work out. Any external thoughts are appreciated, thanks for enduring my wall of text.

As an extra note, I’d be living at home if I attended USC, so my costs would be sans room and board (roughly 52k/yr, which is somewhat close to my prospective costs at Chapman).

Dd was interested in film production so I’ll bite.

A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

So you should exclude USC.
DD knows directors who came from both lmu and Chapman so both would be great.

Lmu pros: already in prod major, close to LA to make internships very easy an accessible.
Chapman pros: better facilities than LMU. But Not sure how many prod classes u can take as a studies major. Good internship opportunities, but ugh! that traffic into LA. Be prepared for 2 hr drives into the valley or west side.

If u really feel the call to USC, start at lmu or Chapman and then apply as a transfer directly into the USC sca prod or studies program because if u don’t get accepted, you are already in a film program elsewhere.
