Dave Chappelle just recently checked into a South African mental institution. Season 3 of Chappelle's show is delayed indefinitely.

Try comprehend this concept...

Chappelle understood society from multiple perspectives. He was obviously very talented and smart. He was critical, sharp witted.

But he cracked mentally. Is this proof that ignorance is bliss? The more educated, the more cynical a person becomes, does that in return allow him to realize the insignificance of humanity and life itself?

Something to think about.

Also, feel free to post how much Chappelle rocks.

What did the five fingers say to the face?
SLAP!

i dont think that's at all why he broke down coolman.

His 1st season was very successful, and his 2nd season far surpassed that, think about it, how often to do you hear "I'm rick james *****" or the lil jon things. His success was so immense. Now that he has to make a 3rd season, everyone is expecting even better stuff, so he basically had a nervous breakdown because he is probly so wound up about having another amazing season.

I think it was more b/c he couldn't handle the pressure. First season, me & one other kid watched the show, by the end of 2nd season, there were a good 20 ppl i knew. it went from being a cult show to this huge pop phenomenon, and i dont think he knew what to do.

They were pretty much the opposite of self-depricating; they were making fun of the OTHER people in society.

I've never met anyone who doesn't think this show is hilarious. Everything he does is a reflection of society, and it's so funny looking back on ourselves and wondering why we act the way we act. Rick James and Prince are classics!

He definitely showed that he had range. Everything was slightly racial, but he did it from all of the different perspectives. It was definitely smart humor.

I don't know why he broke down, but I'm sure the stress of suddenly being a huge star had something to do with it.

I just wonder if all this stuff is true or just a prank. I haven't read much about it yet, but I'm wondering why Dave went all the way to South Africa to check into a psych hospital.

Yeah I was pretty sad to hear about this. I guess he was a huge perfectionist and was partying hard.
I think he wanted to leave the states to avoid the publicity.

My favorite sketches have to be Prince, only because he's my favorite artist (represent MN) and the Black Bush sketch:
"That n*gger very possibly has weapons of mass destruction. I can't tolerate that. Not on my watch. That's not how I roll... I've got a coalition of the willing: forty nations, READY TO ROLL, SON!"
also wayne brady was pretty decent.

I don't know M&B. I saw Dave live in Ann Arbor 3 years ago...I think it was 3 years ago. At any rate, I had to crawl out of the theater a couple of times because I was laughing so hard, I could not breath...or walk. Had I stayed in the room any longer, I would have died! LOL I agree that much of his humor is crude, but he is still pretty funny.

And I don't want to get banned from the forum for repeating all the funny stuff he said in Black White Supremacist. Good stuff.

Also, if anyone's seen him doing that stand up comedy routine about Sesame Street... that was the best.

"And they had the audacity to put a pimp on the show! Now they don't come out and say he's a pimp, but I know a pimp when I see one. They call him The Count. He's like, b1tch, where is my money? You've been late four times I've been counting... how many times must I slap you before you act right?"

Yeah I guess the pressure could've cracked him, but I just have a gut feeling that's not it. Stand up comedians do performances in front of live audiences. He should've conquered pressure during his time doing stand up. Besides, he could just pack his bags and take a vacation to a tropical island rather than to a... tropical continent (okay, so africa's not tropical) and check into a nice hotel... rather than a mental institution.... lol

But looking back on my first post I guess I could've phrased it better...

uh... Chappelle is too smart to go insane.

Okay that doesn't make sense... yet it does... uh... right
