Cheaper online classes?

Hi,
I wanted to take some classes over the summer as I cannot fit them into my schedule or my school does not offer them. I have the option of taking certain courses at local community college but they limit me to only one class. I have looked at options like FVS and Northwestern but all of them are very expensive. I wanted to classes such as Introduction to business, AP Microeconomics, and AP Bio. What would be good option that's not very expensive. Also, what are online classes like?
Thanks a lot

you typically only take one or two classes over the summer. many places have a cap of one class. I don’t know of any place that will let you take 3. Summer classes are much faster pace than regular semesters, hence the cap.

Well, I wouldn’t take three classes a year. I would take two next year and one the year after

Bump

Is your school affiliated with VHS? Cause if they are, then you could potentially take the course for free

Take some online courses from Coursera or edX. These courses are usually from good colleges and can sometimes give you a certification. That’s what I did for a course from Stanford.

@Violet1996 I don’t think so.

You might be able to try Think Well as I know they offer some AP courses. As another option, ince we homeschool and have a limited budget, I have written several syllabi and submitted them to CollegeBoard for approval. My son can start them over the summer and work on them throughout the year. You would be able to do the same thing. OR to make it even easier, CollegeBoard has a link where you can submit some syllabi? that have already been approved that someone else has written. You are not taking credit for writing them as someone else has already done that, but you submit it as one you will be using, documenting their audit approval number. Many of these can be utilized for independent study and prepare you very well for the exam in the spring.

@davenmame‌ I want to take a course where I will get credit at my school too? Do you know of any other websites?

@tigerman333 Below is a link to thinkwell. Since we homeschool I really don’t know how it will work with the courses appearing on your school transcript - regardless of where you take it. Most of the homeschool online courses are a bit pricey - typically well worth it, but still a bit pricey. I know for the online AP courses my son takes, he doesn’t get his grade from them until the end of the year. The do provide an official transcript though, but I just don’t know the mechanics of how schools handle this. Sorry. Hopefully someone else can help you with that.
