Hey guys I have a problem. My younger brother cheated on the ACT and he is already applying for schools and he doesn’t know if he is going to get his ACT cancelled. His total composite score only went from a 25 to a 27 but that is because he only cheated on the science section. His math score jumped from a 25 to a 32. Does the ACT look at specific sections for cheating? Will he get in trouble?
Did he get caught? If not, then how would he get in trouble?
He just got his test score back. Will he get a letter in the future from the ACT saying they he cheated and his scores will be cancelled?
What makes you think the ACT knows about the cheating?
They flag people for cheating all the time.
Did your brother get “flagged”?
No but is it possible he will get a letter in the future saying that he cheated?
Am I the only one who find’s this brave? Power to your brother for knowing how to cheat on the ACT. I personally am terrified of that but good for him to actually have the courage to do it. Trust me each and everyone of us want’s do it but doesn’t have the guts. His proctor must have sucked by the way, I bet they never payed attention.
If he received his scores without comment, I’d say it’s possible, but unlikely.
“Am I the only one who find’s this brave?”
I sincerely hope so.
No… It may seem dishonest but if I were in your brothers shoes I’d just say nothing. What are they going to say? “His score got significantly better so he must’ve cheated”
That makes no sense
lol
YOU don’t have a problem.
Your brother, on the other hand, has a number of problems, starting with the lack of a moral compass.
Although it’s not ethically right at all, I do find it brave and impressive. How did he do it?
There’s something wrong when two people (presumably kids) find it " brave and impressive" that someone cheated. Shows you why cheating is rampant in HS and is being cracked down on at some colleges to little or no avail.
@erpmk23 Actually, that can happen. I believe the cutoff is usually an 8 point improvement before the ACT will audit. If you improve by a significant enough amount, the ACT can withhold your scores and make you retake the test in a secure environment to confirm that you did not cheat. In the case of OP this may or may not happen, but I do believe it has happened in the past (albeit rarely).
@deeeznuts I dont think anyone is going to respect your opinion with that name…
@deeeznuts There is a fine line between “bravery” and stupidity. May not understand what he is putting on the line. The consequences, risk - reward ratio, etc.
Another reason that the ACT needs to go CBT.
@TooOld4School What is CBT?
