When People Cheat on ACT

I have a friend, who has 5 friends who cheated on today's ACT..
It's an odd story. But anyway, I will just call my friend N.
Among N's 5 friends, J is very smart. So the other 4 friends paid J to take ACT. After the exam, one of the 5 friends came to N and told her about how they cheated: J wrote the answers on a pencil eraser, and passed around during the breaks. After the exam, J cancelled his score, so ACT wouldn't chase down to him.
Now, four friends of N might get a significant higher ACT score than what they each got last time. We are talking about from 24 to 31 right away.
So my friend N feels that this is so not fair. I told her to turn them in. But N refused. N is afraid that the 5 cheaters would realize that it is N who snitches and hate N forever. I told N that if the "cheaters" did cheat, we should definitely give them what they deserve. There's no mercy for the cheaters.
Now, I kind of want to turn the cheaters in. First of all, the smart guy J and I apply to the same schools. And I heard he had cheated before on his own ACT and SAT exams. I don't have any evidence on that. Secondly, I think the other 4 cheaters really deserve the punishment.
I searched. If they do cheat, Collegeboard and ACT will only cancel their scores will not inform the schools why they cancel the score. So the cheaters really won't get what they deserve.
But even my friend N did not take ACT with them. Not to mention that I am not from the same school as the cheaters...
So I am very far from this shxt..
Do I have enough evidence? Should I turn them in? Who should I inform? Collegeboard/ACT or cheaters' school? How should I do it? How can I get to the smart guy, J?

What evidence you provided will hold up to ACT? The sad truth is that you would merely be spreading heresay and you can’t prove much.

On second thought, you could demand they look at the cameras and watch the one kid write everything on a piece of paper.

Conclusion, if this did happen, they will get what they deserve eventually. Or they wont and kudos to them

Wow, I wish I thought of that. :(

Stop being a snitch and go get a life. Them cheating doesn’t effect you or “N” at all. Find something else to do with your time.

OP: Worry about yourself. Whatever others around you do will not affect your decision. Furthermore, I don’t think you can prove anything, even though what you say might be true.

Yeah really who cares. If it is not affecting you stop being a snitch. UNLESS IT REALLY DOES INVOLVE YOU?!

I’m not saying that I don’t believe in Karma. I do. I just think sometimes people shoule be more active instead of passively waiting. “J” and I are basically in the same boat (ethnicity, etc). From every aspect I am better than him (leadership, GPA, extracurricular). The only thing he has that’s better is standardized testing. Again, I know I can’t prove that he cheated on his own exam. But if the other 4 cheaters get busted, “J” might be caught, as well.
This sounds cheap and low. But the colleges that we both are looking at are very selective. And both of us are asian, so that makes the admission more picky. On one hand, I do try my best, do what I can do, and on the other hand, if he gets in and I do not, I will be so ****ed off…
If I don’t remind ACT, will they catch on the fact that 4 people in the same test room have the exact same answer? If I do tell them “J” was involved in it, and he cancelled the score, will ACT also analyze J’s test?

How the hell would we know? You have to realize, colleges get thousands of applications. His vs. Yours is statistically insignificant.

I’m not worried about the other 4 cheaters. They are not applying to the same schools I do. But I think I have a competition between J and me. That’s the real concern. I’ve been doing everything I can to get into college. And I want myself to be competitive on every aspect. If I do lose my admission to a person who’s much better, I admit it. But what if I lose to a cheater? So I guess, in a sense, I am involved in it?

Lol, yeah. you should probably turn yourself in.

Jk.
But believe me, I feel ya on the college thing. I’m sure we all do. But like you said, the other four are not applying to the same schools as you. So why do you care if he gives them the answers then cancels his score

I hope the comparison will be insignificant. Since I’m better at other things, I should let this go. But again, “J” and I have almost exact same experience. Moving from the same city on 10th grade to America, study in a private school for 3 years till graduate. I talked to college reps, and they told me I would be competing with other students like “J”, not other American students. So in this situation, is it still insignificant? I really hope it is…Im just throwing out questions that you guys may not know for fact either. Thanks for the help and patience!

So nwgolfer321, you are saying I might be able to bust the other 4, but it’s unlikely to get to J?

Considering I’m a white male from ohio’s suberbs, I probably don’t know exactly how admissions works for asians or any other race for that matter

EDIT: No. I am saying why would you bust the other four? And it is highly unlikely you bust any of them. Especially before college applications. You will probably just come off as a *****…

yeah that’s fine. that’s the killer. I’ve heard people saying that there’s some sort of quota on asian students…or something working that way…

LOL probably. I don’t have to bust the other 4. But I don’t think this makes me an a-whole or a jerk. Again, I think they deserve it. Why should I wait for someone to punish them instead of me standing up? But if J is out of this ***** now, there is no meaning of doing it i guess…

How can you call them “friends”?

You are a ■■■■■.

N is my friend. I don’t call the cheaters my “friends”

Say whatever you want. I’m here to ask for help, not to argue.

You should just try to turn them in for being nerds for actually cheating on a standardized test.

^Are you a titans fan?

Nope, what makes you ask though? lol.

Chris Johnson FTW!
