Ok, I’ve been on college confidential for several things, but I’ve never actually made an account. I had to create an account and post for this, though. On my Macroeconomics AP Exam on 5/14/15, we were supposed to get 10 minutes of prep time and 50 minutes of actual writing time for a total of 60 minutes on the FRQ. I started my watch right at the beginning of prep time and kept it running throughout the whole test, however my proctor called 10 minutes left at 40 minutes and ended the test after 50 minutes (Well, actually 49:25, but it’s easier to say I was cheated out of 10 minutes than 10:35). When she came around to collect our tests, I brought this up with the proctor, and she said that her copy said we had 50 minutes for the test… Yes… for the actual writing part, but not total. What should I do about this? I’ve looked up the college board website, and I’ve found the Office of Testing Integrity, but that says it’s for people who are caught cheating. Is there any specific place to email about this? or should I contact the Integrity office? or should I not contact anyone? Thanks.
By contacting the College Board, what exactly would you expect them to do? They are not going to bump up your score. It’s unlikely they will give you a retest. Maybe they will refund your test fee.
You should have stood your ground. The instructions to the proctors are very specific about time allotted and the amount of time is printed in the students’ test booklet, which you could also have shown to her. If it were me, and I was not done, I would have continued writing for 10 minutes. What is she going to do? Report me? Get the principal? At least then you could offer your own version of events.
ehh, I think doing that would’ve caused a lot more damage for me. I did show her where it said that we had an hour and she said hers said 50 minutes and then she took my booklet. One thing I’m concerned about is tomorrow’s test. Tomorrow is the Micro test and I’m worried she’ll give us just 50 minutes again. Thanks for the response.
if you tell college board that you think it was proctored incorrectly, i think the best they can do is let everyone re test. however, if one proctor is called into question, college board usually likes to audit ALL tests that have been taken at that school in this particular year, and that could seriously screw some stuff up. so id say just dont let her do it again.
if she argues with you about it again, tell her she can look it up on college board herself and see how much time you guys are supposed to get.

Thank you! I’ll definitely be sure to show that to her. I would assume she got confused when it said we had 50 minutes to answer the questions. I guess she thought that meant total and not added to the 10 minute reading period.
I had the same proctor today for the micro test. She said they were mistaken and they were supposed to give us 10 extra minutes. I didn’t end up contacting the college board about it, but I guess it doesn’t matter because my proctor made a report about giving us too little time. I kinda hope we don’t have to take it again.
Sorry for bringing back an old post, but I just wanted to say I got a 4 on the Macro Exam. I didn’t have to retake the test, which is good (My teacher didn’t think we would have to). I also got a 5 on the Micro Test!
