for all you guys who are saying that what if she had 13 votes initially ??
i contacted the teacher and SHE CONFIRMED THAT I HAD 13 INITIALLY!

was it a reCOUNT or a reVOTE(if thats even a word)?

yea, good question Nalcon.. i'm kind of confused now LoL. I was thinking it was a "reVOTE" but now i realize that it was probably just a recount which, like some1 else already said, is ridiculous for such few ballots. And if it was just a recount, how did you have 13 initially, and 12 after??

same question.

believe me in most schools if its too close to tell there is a recount...if she beat you the second time around with greater than 1 vote, then she rightfully won.
Just try for another position, and don't blame everything on racial discrimination!

But honestly tho, you are in no position to consider it "racial discrimination". cause what if she WERE indeed a better candidate than you? complaining would just make you look like a sore loser. Also, if you are really stuck up on it, then do another recount if you can. And having your "mom" send an email? doesn't make you sound too much like a leader to me.

Besides, put urself in her position. If you initially lost by one vote, you WOULD request a recount too. and how do you think the 80% of asians would feel if they foudn out that you are only in office because your mom complained that they were more or less "racists"?

hey guys i understand your confusion
it was a reVOTE not a reCOUNT

now its considered cheating rite...

hey joethemole, its how u interpret it to be racial discrimination. I am sure that i am THE BETTER CANDIDATE. Its more of a popularity contest which is what I am upset about.. I tried to contact the principal first, but shes "too busy" so my mom (very agressive) took care of it...

they contacted me back today...at worst it is co-presidency the teacher admits it was unfair and feels my pain

however i am fighting for sole custody if you know wat i mean

so i guess i was completely wrong about the miscount thing then...my bad...oh well....

hmm wonder who changed their vote...

People should NOT be allowed to change their votes.....

If it was a reCOUNT, that would be perfectly fine, but reVOTING even if it was too close is bologna.

Seems to me that the key thing here that hasn't been mentioned is the rules. What are the rules of the club or the school that govern the voting? Do the rules provide for a revote in close outcomes? If so, was this revote done according to the correct specified procedure? If not, then there is a strong argument that the revote is invalid. If revotes are allowed, then on what basis does the second outcome displace the first? Must the winner must get a majority of votes or only a plurality? etc.

Read the rules first. If rules were violated you probably have a case. If not, you probably don't.

heh whatever. good luck on it

What does your school handbook say about the voting process in school stuff?

same thing happened to me.....Im indian, I ran for pres, won majority of the votes, but it was done hastily, everyone was talking and it was a crowded room and some ass raised his hand twice which led to a recount, so i went from winning by like 6 votes to losing by one cuz the teacher discredited a bunch of people who voted for me because they were "talking."

You can't really say it is "racial discrimination" and make them let u to be the president I am a school club where the president was white before he graduate, and over 90% of the club member is Asian. I think it is more about popularity than racial. Right now, to other people u would just sound like a sore loser who blame on ur problem on having too much Asian. Even if u get the position, no one will follow ur leadershipI personally is insulted because I am an Asian. I NEVER vote for someone just because they are "popular" or Asian. If I think they are a good leader, I don't care what race they are, I will vote them just as the same. Prehapes the people in ur club is racist, but I just hope that u can understand there are a lot of Asian who is not like that.
Sorry, I am so upset I forget to answer a advice... maybe u should try talking to ur teacher, ask if she think it is discriminating, maybe try one more revote. If the second revote changed the result, maybe the third one can changed it back. It is more accteptable for the members too. This time, maybe try harder to get even the Asian to help u

hey guys..this story is about to end.
i met with the teachers and an administor/official guy from my school.
the conflict was resolved and i was awarded sole custody of presidency.

:)

SCORE!!!!!!!

Do others hate you now, though?

haha...i was gonna put in my two cents worth, but then your story ended...I would make sure that the members of the club are happy with you being President...something similar almost happened to me for French Club and one of my friends wrote an anonymous letter to the sponsor for a recount, but I stopped my friend from submitting it. I would also try to make sure that you'd run the club much much better than your opponent would have/was running the club...

oh yea i guarantee i would run the club much better...
by the way guys feel free to post in my other thread I REALLY need help in that thread. its titled "chances at caltech ED" thanks...

Personally, I think you made too much of a fuss about the whole thing. At our school, I'm the vice-president of CSF, and we're not required to do ANYTHING. It's a do nothing job for all the executive officers. We just pay and sit back and relax and require only 2 projects per semester.

What would your club members think of if you made such a stir about the whole process? Is it really that important that you were PRESIDENT, the one and only? Seems like you're a little too ambitious there. Sit back and enjoy life, it's not all about getting into that one school, and the fact that you titled the thread "cheating me out of leadership!!!1one" makes it seem like you're pretty immature, and to refer to presidency as "leadership" pretty much detracts from the title itself. In the title, we can all see your true motives, it's just another position to tack on to your college application.

I'm not impressed, and personally I think you're way too intense about the whole situation-- who'd take legal action for some stupid club presidency? I know I wouldn't. Chill out, it's just high school.

I agree with zorgy69, club is suppose to be fun. In our school's CSF, we have CO- president. And if someone want to, we can have tri-president! Actually, I think we have tri-secretary or treasury in my junior year, it was quite interesting to think about... But I never really notice, cause all I want to do is find some fun volunteer oppurtunies ^^
