How does this affect USA citizens on admissions? Negligible?

If you are applying to a need-blind school, then not at all. A lot of schools aren't need-blind, however, so it could have a deleterious effect on some applications.

that's what i suspected, thanks! I know international students get killed on asking for aid no matter where they go.

The vast majority of schools are not need blind for Americans much less internationals. Most schools also do not meet need.

Not needing aid helps a lot at most colleges.

ye i never check fin aid. I proabbly wouldnt qualify anyway. Obviously this depends on your financial status. Don't neglect it if you actually need it

Can anyone give a list of the common schools mentioned on CC (ex. HYPSM, Caltech, Chicago, CMU, etc.) that do/do not care if you check the box?

All of them.

The only top 25 school that I know off the top of my head that is NOT need blind is Johns Hopkins.

Otherwise, your financial aid information won't be reviewed until AFTER you are accepted by the admissions committee.

Isn't Wash University a needs aware school ?

does anyone know if emory and vanderbilt are need blind?

Emory is need blind. Not sure about Vandy

Ya thanks for reminding me that ;)

Anyway for purely informational reasons - HYP, Williams, Middlebury and MIT are need blind for internationals (they're the only ones)

If applying to schools using their own application forms, can you check the financial aid box on certain schools and not check it on others ?

Harvard
Penn
McGill
Northwestern
Georgetown
Michigan
Pepperdine

Are any of these schools need-aware?

is there some kind of list with all of the need blind schools?
can it be found anywhere...as in on their website and such
i did find a list on wikipedia...although im not sure how accurate it is

Need-blindness can be found on schools' websites.

All the Ivies are need blind.

What do you need a list of need-blind schools for?
If you knew that financial factors affect 5% of the admission decisions at one of your top choice universities, would you not apply?
