I've cheered all through High School and am considering doing it in college. Does anyone have any insight into what cheerleading is like at Tulane? Is it competitive/difficult to make the team? How are the cheerleaders perceived? Have any of you cheered at Tulane or known anyone who has?

I have to say, this is the first time I have heard this question. I don’t know anything about it, the closest we have gotten to this is that my D was roomed with a cheerleader when she stayed overnight during Honors Weekend.

Anyway, here is an entire web home for the squad, including tryout info. [Tulane Cheer: Home](http://www.tulane.edu/~cheer/) If there are questions you have that are not addressed on here, you shouldn’t hesitate at all to contact:

Good luck!

It’s kind of like Tulane football-no one really cares or knows who the players are.

That being said, if cheerleading is something you enjoy, I’d say go for it! I’d suggest emailing the coach and trying to get more info about tryouts and the time commitment.

Tulane has a cheerleading team? Just kidding.
I’ve never heard anything about it honestly, but it doesn’t seem to be too important.
Still doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try out for it if you really love it.

Thanks for the input! :)

So, is it true that football games are poorly attended? Is that true of other sports as well? Maybe the new stadium in 2014 will bring more people out to games!?

It is true they are rather poorly attended. I think the basketball games, in terms of filling up the space available, are much better attended usually.

I agree that the new stadium in 2 years will lead to far, far better attendance. When I was a freshman (OK, now you get to see how old I am) I was at the highest attendance game ever at the old Sugar Bowl (Tulane Stadium) when we beat LSU for the first time in something like 27 years. Over 87,000 people I think it was. Granted a lot of them were there to see LSU, but even at the other games and at that one, there were far more Tulane fans at the games than these days. I think things will get much better when the team plays on campus again.
