What exactly is the difference between the 3. Which are co-ed. Which are most prominent at the football games. I'm a male cheerleader at my highschool right now, and I'd love to continue in college, does USC have a co-ed cheer team, and do they go to all the games, how involved are they?

USC’s only co-ed spirit program are the Spirit Leaders. They are not traditional cheerleaders (they don’t perform stunts) but they do cheers and such. You can find more information here: http://sait.usc.edu/recsports/spirit/leaders/

Here’s a very basic run-down.

Cheerleading http://www.usccheer.com/ is co-ed: This is the closest to high school cheerleading and the only one that does stunts. They don’t have much involvement with any sports, making them least prominent.

Spirit Leaders http://sait.usc.edu/recsports/spirit/leaders/ is co-ed: They lead cheers and try to rally the crowd at sporting events. They don’t dance or stunt like USC Cheer does. They have signs that say Go Trojans and what not. They’re pretty prominent at all football games. The general consensus is that they look nice, but are unnecessary and sometimes annoying.

These next two are female only and pretty much just dance (no stunting, no cheering) in case any one else is wondering.

Song Girls http://sait.usc.edu/recsports/spirit/song/: The world famous Song Girls are the most prominent at football games and go to some other sporting events. They are considered the elite.

Trojan Dance Force http://www.usctrojans.com/trads/usc-trojan-dance-force.html: A dance squad that is most prominent during basketball games.
