sicks06. thank you for adding nothing to the conversation

Confused, I would say that if you aren't required to take the Chem 20 series then you should stick with the 14 series (unless you really love chem in which case you should go with the 20 series.) The main difference is that the Chem 20/30 series is directed towards the physical sciences and the 14 series is directed more towards the biological sciences. Both series more or less cover the same topics but, the 20/30 series goes a bit more in depth into the material.

Don't take the 20 series unless it is required.

oh ok but since its not as in depth will it hurt on a med. school application .

I honestly think it doesn't actually matter at all but, if you're that worried about it you should just take the 20 series...

i'll go and talk to an advisor to see if a med. school prefers one or the other but has any ucla pre-meds heard of any such thing

To tell you the truth, every single pre-med I have known has taken the 14 series... including my roommate who is very serious about med school and has started studying for the MCATs a YEAR in advance... and who has a 3.95 (he's crazy). Unless you're looking into pre-pharm (I thiiiink might like the 20 series better), I would recommend the 14 series, but I suppose seeing a counselor wouldn't hurt.

i think 14 may be good too i just need to check, any pre-meds here????

i was admitted as a freshman for fall 2006, and am going premed. i plan to take the 20 series. but then again, it is required for my major.

It doesn't matter which series you take for medical schools- they don't differentiate between more "difficult" series, so whether you fulfill the math requirements through 31a/31b/32a or through 3a,3b,3c or if you fulfill the chemistry requirements through the 14 series or the 20/30 series makes no difference- both chem series will adequately prepare you for the MCAT.
