Chem 1AL

I'm an incoming freshman and registered for Chem 1AL in the fall as part of my Phase I registration. How is the class graded? Are you graded based on your accuracy in the lab or your conceptual understanding? For example, say we are doing a titration lab with acids and bases and you are asked to calculate the molarity of a sample of an acid. Say your answer is off but you can fully explain the lab, why it works, etc., will you still receive a good grade?

Also, what happens during the Chem 1AL lecture? What's the point of having a one hour lecture for the lab?

Thanks

I took Chem 1AL in the spring. I know it works a little different in the fall so someone can feel free to correct me. The 1AL lecture doesn’t actually exist, it’s only there because telebears won’t let you have a lab/discussion without a lecture. The grades are based on your post labs, pre-labs, and notes that you take during the lab. Most of the post labs are work sheets in your lab manual, but there are 2 formal lab reports that are worth significantly more than the informal lab write-ups. If you show all your work and calculations you won’t get marked down for a wrong answer.
