Chem 31X vs A/B

Hi all,
I am an incoming freshman and am decided whether or not to take x versus a/b...I took an honors chemistry course because my school did not offer AP but I feel fairly well versed in Chem so I want to try to place into 31X. Does anybody know if the textbooks are the same (i.e. learning the same material)? Any insight?

The chem department will offer a placement test. Take it and if you do well, you should take Chem 31X.

Chem 31A/B have no curve, so to get an A for example, you would have to get above 90% on everything. 31A/B will also be a more exhaustive introduction to chemical principles. The textbooks, format, material, etc. for 31A/B is not the same as 31X.

31X is graded on a generous curve. That being said, I found it pretty difficult, despite being mostly review, after getting a 5 on the AP Chem test. Take the placement test and go from there. If you are willing to put a little extra time into it, I recommend 31X.

What will be your major? Why are you doing chemistry?
