I have a few simple questions about chem at reed. A) how is the quality of the courses/profs, are they fun and interesting, or are they dreadfull and sad. Is the qual really really hard to pass/rather die than take, or is it passable. I know there is a new chem building, so does that mean that theres a bunch of nice lab equipment, or is it all junky crap because the good stuff it too expensive w/o a research grant. And finally, since im gonna study chem, would you recommend me to study here, i know bout the research n thesis n student body and I really like all of it, I just do not know about the chem side of things (except phd productivity, i know that).

the professors are great. I had maggie geselbracht last semester, and she is not only amazing at chemistry, but a sweetheart too.
this semester I have arthur glasfeld which is one of the funniest persons I know. Not to mention that he is really good in his field.
to conclude with, I would say that chemistry is really strong at Reed and that you wouldn't regret it. :)

It's a great department. I wasn't a chem major but I had a lot of friends who were. They all loved it and are now doing PhD's or post-doc's at MIT, Berkeley, and Harvard.
