Chem Subject Test Scoring on "CE section"

Hi,

I understand that you have to answer all three parts of the questions with CE (I, II, and CE) correctly to get a point.

My question is that if you leave one part blank - for example, the I part of number 110 - but you had answered part II, is the whole question counted as wrong?

If so, then wouldn't you just want to leave all three parts blank right off the bat if you don't think you can either I or II..and save time that way as well?

Thanks.

It would be marked as all wrong. U have to answer all parts correctly to get the point.

Sorry I should have asked the “opposite” angle: Leaving I blank and answering II would not be counted as blank, right?

Ok this is my last and hopefully most articulate version of what I’m trying to ask: If you answer one part of the three-part CE section questions RIGHT and leave the other part BLANK, you are still getting docked .25 of a point, right?

So isn’t it best to not fill in any of the parts at all if you immediately know that you can’t answer I or II, even if you do know the answer to one of the parts?

if you can answer one part, it’s worth it to guess.

You will only get it right if you answer all 3 parts correctly. If you put even 1 wrong part, it is marked wrong. If you put nothing, no penalty. If you know 1 of them, it MIGHT be worth it to guess because it’s like a 33% chance of getting it right. But this is just like guessing for all the toher problems. Some people swear by guessing on everything; others leave them blank.
