Hi!
I'm a senior in high school attending The University of Alabama next fall. I've been set on med school most of my life, and have shadowed several doctors/volunteered at hospitals all throughout high school. I originally thought to major in Biology (standard premed), but then I began to see some of my older sister's friends with Bio degrees get denied to med school and struggle to find jobs. I most certainly DON'T want that, so I researched and found some great information on the ChBE program at UA. I feel like it is my smartest move, in the event that I don't get into medical school, but I am nervous GPA wise. Any advice?

It certainly isn’t an easy major…I’ve heard that the ideal major for a premed bent on engineering is biomedical engineering (which is my major) but it is not generally advised because of the difficulty in getting the GPA needed to be competitive for medical schools (major doesn’t really factor in when evaluating GPA). The job market for chemical engineering is also cyclical meaning that the amount of employment varies with the market, needs, etc. Chem E also requires substantial math and science courses and you should probably be at least above average to pursue and do well in Chem E.
