Chemical Engineering Premed?

I know that engineering is hard and most threads I've read emphasized NOT to go this route because of how it will negatively impact my GPA. But for ND students, has anyone been successful with this? And if so, do you have any advice?

I am a chemical engineering major, and I’m going to be a sophomore next year, but I’m not pre-med. I had a friend who was chemical engineering and pre-med, but she decided to switch out of chemical engineering and pursue a bio degree instead. I can’t really tell you whether it is right or wrong to do, but it all depends on what you want to study in school and what you want to do as a doctor. If you’re more interested in research, the engineering background might be helpful. Honestly, a chemical engineering degree will probably be more work than a bio or science pre-professional degree, but none of them are a walk in the park, especially at Notre Dame.

Definitely agree with the poster above. If you just want to become a clinical physician and KNOW that is what you want to do, get a pre-professional/Bio degree instead. If you want to do more medical research, pursue something like Bio or Biochem or stick with Chegg. The pre-professional tracks are for people like me who know they want to become a clinical physician.
