Hey guys i am an undergraduate student and i am having extreme difficulty choosing a career. Right now im between chemical engineering and forensic science and i jus cannot decide between the 2. Any advice?

My advice–Realize that forensic science is no where near as exciting as it seems on television. The field has really been glorified the last decade or so because there are a plethora of major shows that center around forensics (CSI, Bones, Dexter-to an extent).

My CCC held a couple of jobs in chemistry seminars last semester and three of the presenters worked in forensics. All three said the same thing–it is not as interesting as you see on TV. Typically, you get put into one department and do the same thing over and over, such as testing blood for alcohol content. Then you spend long days at court repeating the same phrases you have spoken many times in the past.

If it is really what you want to do, I’m sure that are no exciting jobs out there for the best of the best in the field. It is going to take hard work and probably some decent connections to get those jobs.
