Chemical Engineering

So I am considering majoring in chemical engineering, but I’m not finding any “desk heavy jobs” for someone with a ChemEng degree. Are there desk heavy jobs out there or am I considering the wrong major?

I don’t know, how heavy is the desk your looking for? Seriously if you want to work at a desk, computer science is the answer.

Yes. Name a flavor of engineering, and there will be at least some “desk heavy” jobs out there.

Most engineering jobs are relatively desk-heavy, in the sense that you will be performing calculations and/or writing reports in your computer most of the time, as well as collaborating with other employees to implement your results. You might head out to site (if you work in a plant environment) and direct inspections which require an engineer’s eye, every once in a while. However, the time spent on the latter will be very short in comparison.

That’s what my job looks like as a ChemE.

If you work in an area like Petroleum (upstream), though, you will spend a good amount of time outdoors.
