I am a Junior in High School seriously considering Chemical Engineering. I am very interested in working on improvement of alternative energy and I thought that Chem E would be a good way to get into that while opening up many other opportunities for myself in other fields (everything else they do looks pretty good to me as well, I’m not complaining). I’m just wondering whether Chem E is a good way to get into this line of work or if another type of Engineering would be better in fulfilling this purpose (without closing too many other opportunities for other pursuits). If there are other types of Engineers like this it would be greatly appreciated if you would post them down. Thank you :D.
Yes, Chemical Engineering is a good way to get into alternative energy.
You will find lots of different engineering and science majors in the alternative energy field. It is not su much where you initial training lies but what you choose to pursue. That being said, chemical engineering is as good as any place to start.
In fact, I can’t think of any engineering disciplines that can’t get into alternative energy.
