I cannot know for sure until July, but I am pretty confident I got a 5 on AP Chemistry and a 4 on AP Biology.

-If I take the chemistry credit, what will I take this fall? Would I take organic in the spring?

-In biology, I would get 4 out of the 8 intro credits. Does "evolution and diversity" cover those 4 credits I need?

-If Cornell does not get my scores until after the first week of July (when we enroll in classes), will the computer still allow me to enroll in the classes I want?

what major are you planning to be? it would matter, because AP bio credits no longer count toward the biology major (unless I’m really confused). if you need a total of 8 intro credits for any other purpose, however, then four credits of evolution and diversity would work.

for chemistry, it matters which kind of organic chemistry you want to take. the standard course for pre-meds and most bio majors is two semesters (Chem 3570-3580, from which I am, as of today, forever freeeeee!) if I had been in that position I probably would have just not taken chemistry freshman year and then taken the two semesters of orgo sophomore year. perhaps others have better ideas than that.
also, if you don’t happen to need two semesters of orgo, you can take Chem 1570 instead for three credits in one semester. that’s only offered in the spring so you would not take it your first semester, but it might be OK for Spring '11.

im also curious about this too. Would cornell receive the scores early enough so that they have our AP scores before we start enrolling?

the system doesn’t check for prereqs…you could enroll in a 4000 level class freshman year if you wanted, it just wouldnt be smart

Ap credits seriously do not count for bio major?

And how do you take orgo without intro chem? u can get away with that (refering to this quote: "if I had been in that position I probably would have just not taken chemistry freshman year and then taken the two semesters of orgo sophomore year)

AP credits in Biology no longer count for the bio major. “AP Biology will not count towards the Introductory Life Science/Biology requirement for the Biological Sciences major.” from [CALS Registrar: Life Sciences Biology Distribution Requirement](http://www.cals.cornell.edu/cals/current/registrar/current-students/cals-graduation/lifebio.cfm#biomajors)

sorry about that quoted part, I re-read my post and it was a bit vague. like Feral said, no one is checking. the system will not prevent you from enrolling, and no one is going to approach you about it, so there’s nothing to get away with. you place out of Chem 2070-2080 with a 5 on AP chem, so you are supposed to be prepared anything that lists those classes as a prerequisites. an advisor or someone who got a 5 on the AP might know better though.

is that only for CALS? I am in A&S
