I'm having a suuuuuuuper tough time deciding between UCLA and CMU. I got in for Chemistry at both and UCLA is ranked way better for Chemistry than CMU, but is it actually better? CMU has so many more chances for professor interaction and research while everyone complains that UCLA's Chem department doesn't really care about the students. I'm thinking about trying to get my Phd in Chemistry and would a grad school be way happier about a UCLA Chem degree than a CMU one? I'm thinking about double majoring in Materials Science though which CMU is way better for than UCLA.

It would not be surprising if lower division chemistry classes were huge and filled with pre-meds.
