<p>I am a potential Chem major in my first year here. I've never heard that we're one of the best departments in the nation, so I'd be interested as to what led you to think that and information supporting that. Not doubting that, I don't know that much about departments, though I'd say that UCBerkeley, MIT, and Chicago are pretty well known for their very good chemistry departments...</p>
