does anyone know schools that have awesome chemistry departments?

Berkeley, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, UIUC, Wisconsin, Columbia, Cornell, Cal Tech

Cornell, one of the reasons I applied.

wat about chicago??

Not top 10

Chicago's good, don't know if it's one ove the best. Johns Hopkins has a great chem department.

For undergrad, Harvey Mudd's chemistry department is superb. Rugg's Recommendations has ranked us #1 for a few years, and we have the highest rate of PhD's in the nation.

To clarify stewie and barrons' comments- NRC ranked Chicago 11th in chem. Not top 10, but still excellent. NRC ranked Johns Hopkins 27th.

Davidson also has an excellent chem department, especially for a LAC. 90% of its chem majors get into the grad school of their choice. The facilities were also a lot newer and nicer than many I saw at more prestigious universities.

What is NRC?

National Research Council. Part of the National Academies of Science--top scholars group in the US. They publish an extensive study/rating of graduate depts every 10 years or so.
