Chemistry@Brown?

How is Brown University known for it's undergraduate chemistry programs?
If it's not known, then will it be a disadvantage in applying for the graduate programs in other universities?

At the undergrad level, Brown will have everything you need in a chemistry program... Brown is an overall phenomenal school, and its undergrad program is well-respected by grad schools...

So, for the undergrad level, the school prestige is probably more important than the academic department rankings?

"the school prestige is probably more important than the academic department rankings?"

For professional school yes, for graduate school no. You'll want recommendations from well known profs, and of course your GRE score will reflect how much you've learned. (Note- none of this is against Brown, I don't know anything about their chem department.)

what do you mean by professional schools?

Professional schools are law, medicine, and business schools. They care more about the overall prestige of your school than the academic quality of your department, while it's the opposite for graduate schools.

the way you people focus on departmental rankings, you would get the impression that all the small liberals arts programs must suck because they don't have huge research programs... that is bullshhh.

At the UNDERGRAD level, department rankings are not very relevant, because what makes an outstanding undergrad department does NOT necessarily make a great graduate department, and vice versa...

At the UNDERGRAD level, focus on the overall quality of the school and don't obsess with department rankings.
