chemistry comprehensive exams

has anybody ever taken the ACS comprehensive exams in chemistry?
i'm interested in hearing about all five areas: organic, inorganic, biochem, phys chem, and analytical

any information is welcome! - sample exam is only available for organic chem, so i have no idea what to expect in all the other subjects

I took all 5 ACS standardized Exams as placement exams. I passed Physical chem, biochem and analytical chem. I later passed organic and never retook the inorganic. The tests are pretty much equivalent to a comprehensive 2 semester undergrad final exam. I would look at your undergrad final exams for guidance. The exams are all multiple choice, by the way. I would contact the school that you are applying to and ask them for hints on what/where to study.

thanks
i guess i am not sure how deeply i have to go into all the subjects -- like which equations i have to memorize for p-chem test, if any -- or do i have to know a lot about NMR for analytical exam (like coupling values) or is it basically like high shcool AP chem with a lot of acid-base chemistry and calculations of chemical formulas

i've asked for hints but the material seems to be confidential -- they told me tests are same for 3 years -- any given year a couple are replaced with new versions -- all the administration told me is to review my undergraduate textbooks -- but even in undergraduate courses we never covered all chapters of these -- i've heard that bioinorganic is a small part of inorganic test, but my undergraduate inorganic class was all basic i-chem and materials, no bioinorganic at all -- so i'm trying to find out what i should focus on because i feel i haven't even covered all the material as an undergrad -- i also never had any analytical chemistry -- it just doesn't exist as a course at my university

which test do you think was easiest to do, of the ones you passed?
which one is easiest to study for in a short period of time?

Analytical is deff the easiest. For what it is worth, usually a 50% is passomg, too. Before you try to tackel too much, make sure that you have to pass all 5. At South Florida, they only required that we pass 3 of the 5 exams.

P. Chem is 1/3 Thermodynamics, 1/3 quantumn, 1/3 kinetics.
