I got accepted to UCSB with a really good scholarship offer in my alternate major of chemistry. The problem is I am more interested in biology and biochemistry which was my first choice. I got accepted to UC Davis for biochem but they did not offer a scholarship. My question is is it a good idea for me to try to go to UCSB and try changing my major? I am not sure how the changing major process works or how hard it will be to change.
^^In this list, bio and biochem are listed as open majors, you only need to pass the prereqs it seems
Here is my answer from your other thread:
I don’t think it will be a problem changing the major. They are the same dept, the Dept of Chemistry and Biochemistry and they have the exact same lower division prerequisites except biochem needs one more. If you do have to formally change you only need department approval.

@brownparent I think i misunderstood. I was actually accepted to pre-chemistry, not chemistry. I believe the difference is that once I complete my pre-major courses I am able to advance into chemistry or biochemistry. I got the idea from this http://www.chem.ucsb.edu/sites/secure.lsit.ucsb.edu.chem.d7/files/sitefiles/Pre-Chemistry-2014.pdf
Correct me if I am wrong.
