Ok so I'm going to UCSB as a pre-biology major and I'm thinking of declaring as a biochem major once I fulfill the pre major requirements. Its a subject I am interested in, but I'm wondering if this major is too hard? If I want to go to med school, would it be a better idea to pick an easier major in which I can get better grades that I am still interested in?

I’m a bio major right now and I believe the prereq’s go well with the pre-med requirements for medical school.

Its purely up to you. You can compare the two here

BioChem:

Bio:

Thanks, but I was more wondering whether it is a good idea to do biochemistry because it might be harder than some of the other biological science majors like Cell and Developmental Biology when I want to keep a high gpa. Or will it help that I took harder classes when I apply to med school?

I would recommend College of Creative Studies (CCS).
[College of Creative Studies, UC Santa Barbara - Chemistry and Biochemistry](http://www.ccs.ucsb.edu/chem_biochem)

Does anybody know where I can locate practice tests or old tests for chem 142a (biochem), chem 150 (analytical chem), or chem 112a (biophysical). Thanks!
