Chemistry major path to Patent Attorney

I am a second year Chemistry major I decided Pharmacy school wasn’t for me and started exploring careers in intellectual property protection. My friend told me about Patent law and I want to pursue it, what can I do now? and what are my options after getting my Bachelor’s to reach my career goal? I am also likely to end up with a minor in Political Science and Math I have no internship experiences or anything. What can I do now? What specific things should I be doing/looking into?

Just letting you know my husband was a chemistry major undergrad. Then he got a masters in chemical engineering. After that he worked a few years as a petroleum engineer. Then he went to law school. T14. Graduated high in his class, passed the patent bar and has been practicing law for many years (mainly oil and gas litigation but some intellectual property). He had no internships or experience or anything. He did work with lawyers at the oil company he worked for. Good (VERY GOOD) grades and high LSAT scores are a must (at least to get into a good law school)! You need to have a couple of excellent LORs so make sure you are building those relationships. You need to write very well. Those are the biggest things. Look at the websites of schools you are interested in and explore what they look for in students. Good luck!
