<p>This is not really a test question. I just got confused when I'm studying Kalpen. What exactly are we doing when we are titrating? Are we trying to get [H3O+] and [OH-] to the same level or something?</p>
<p>During a titration, the equivalence point is the point at which the amount of acid and the amount of base are stoichiometrically equal. Meaning, both are present in equal molarity. H+ doesn't have to equal OH-. If you're trying to figure out the point at which the pH is 7 though, then you'd be trying to find when the two are equal.</p>
