Chemistry vs. Physics

If you could take one of these courses and ONLY one, which one would you take? Basically which one do you consider more important and useful?

What do you want to major?

Hmmm, well it depends on the field. Both are important, it just depends which one you want to focus on more. If you’re aiming to be more chemical, materials, or environmental science, then I would say chemistry. If you’re aiming to be more engineering or physics, then I would say physics. If you’re not really going into science or engineering, I would say chemistry would be better, because it IS the central science, so it would be more useful, but overall, if you’re not going into science, it doesn’t matter that much.

blupowerade: Never mind what I want to major in, just tell me which one you think is more important and useful for life in general.

Probably chemistry.

Yea, if you want to know which is more important in life overall, it would be chemistry.

Chem - and it seems more interesting because it really gives you the ability to think about the world on a smaller scale.

Chem. But not really because it’s more important. I don’t care about that. I like Chem more, I’m more likely to get an A in Chem, and the Chem teacher is hilarious (though I have wanted to have the Physics teacher since I was 12. He seems… dorky. Like adorkable and avuncular).
If it’s HS, you don’t need to really worry about which is more important or what field you’re going into that much. If you go into a chemistry field, you will take tons of chem in college no matter what you take in HS. And v.v. No matter which one you take, you’ll have time to take the other later. So you should choose based on what’s going to make you happy.

I love Physics, but it’s all a matter of preference. Physics, like math, primarily consists of numbers. Chemistry has properties, trends, exceptions out the a-hole, etc.

Chemistry

10 char

Physics, cause it’s intrinsically cooler than chem.

CHEMISTRY, all the way baby.

Chemistry, of course.

Physics is about a thousand times better.

I’d pick physics, but I think chem is more useful in the context you’ve provided.

Physics - more math = more fun

physics, obviously.

Physics FTW!

yay physics!

Chemistry FTW.
