I'm a class A chess player from like 3 years ago. Is that worth putting on my application? Will it help at all?

I would put it on. I think chess as an activity shows an intellectual bent that some colleges would like. Even if you quit in 9th grade, if you did it enough to have a “class”, then you should put it on. My D left a few things off her application (eg, 9th grade debate), but she had NO skills to speak of. You should include it. And I would not make any excuses about why you quit. Almost everyone narrows down their activities in high school, there is just not enough time to keep doing everything.

I’m considering getting back into chess which is why I’m asking. My rating is 1802 right now but I’m afraid that I’ll lose my “Class A” classification (1800-1999) which might be helpful for my college app.
