Greetings!

A few days ago, after the decision to go to U of Chicago has been cemented, I started to comb through the University website and happened to see the program. I was very interested by it and signed up at once. Since I haven't heard a reply yet, I thought I should ask people on this board for more information.

First, I wonder how they decide who gets in? Do they sort according to the time we signed up? Or according to our stats from the applications we sent last year?

Second, can anyone who was in the program share his experience? Were the classes difficult? Or just normal? And how were the lectures in the first year?

Thanks very much for the help!

Hey! I am a current first year at University of Chicago, and I participated in CAAP last year.
It was a blast, there were honestly no drawbacks to being in it.
Admission to it is almost non-competitive, virtually everyone who applies gets in. They purposely keep it hush-hush so that not too many people apply because then they’d have to start turning people down.
The program is explicitly made known to mostly low-income student, minorities, first generation, etc. but even if you don’t fit into any of these categories you’ll probably still get in.

The classes were normal, how I did in them almost perfectly aligned with my performance the first two quarters in the college.

Any other questions, just let me know! I might end up meeting some CAAP students because I’m staying on campus for the summer. Good luck!

Hi, I’m applying for CAAP this year, and since you were a student last year, I was wondering if I could ask you a few question. Do you remember when you found out you were accepted to CAAP? and can you tell me anything about the application process? I sent in my application already but if I don’t get into the program this year, I will need to find a job for the summer right away. But if I do get into the program, I also think it would be bad form to quit a job after less than a month. I’m kind of in a bind as to what to do about applying for a summer job. I also noticed on the application I turned in that it was titled application part one. Do you remember filling out a second part to the application or something about a phone interview? Thanks in advance!

I’m doing CAAP this summer. Email them again because there was a medical emergency, which kind of messed things up. There is a 2nd part of the application and a phone interview.

Would it be too late to ask for an application from CAAP right now? I just learned about this program recently and am interested.

I don’t think it’s too late, but you might want to get on that ASAP. It’s too good of a program to miss out on!

I received no email for 9 days? I really want to do this…

Don’t worry, I didn’t get a reply for about three or four weeks
