<p>@ wej: I think both. You’ll definitely be able to find out online from your UChicago account. They’ll send an e-mail, but it may not be as fast.</p>

<p>The way it worked last year was as follows:</p>
<p>A PDF of our decision letter was posted up to our accounts and we also got an e-mail notifying us that the decision was up and to go check our accounts. Upon logging into our accounts we basically saw a link that was like “Decisions are up; are you sure you want to see?” Then maybe clicked on one more link, and then the PDF was up on the screen. Whatever day the decisions go up online is the day the by-mail decisions are sent out, so you can expect the hard copy acceptance (or deferral, or what-have-you) however many days it takes the mail to get to you from Chicago after that day. Last year decisions went up online on the 15th and I got my hard-copy acceptance about a week later, the average time for mail to go from Chicago to Maine. Financial aid estimates for acceptees came about 2 weeks or so after the acceptance–I got mine on the 27th or so, I think, right after Christmas. My FA estimate was equal to the amount of FA I get now from Chicago.</p>
<p>Good luck, guys. I’d tell you to stop worrying and think about something else but I know my advice would fall on deaf ears; I certainly was not able to think about anything besides Chicago from about December 10th on until the decisions finally went up. :)</p>
