hey, i'm not sure if anyone would take the time to help me with something so dumb ha, but could anyone supply me with a list of schools in or within an hour of chicago? preferrably in order of academic quality? thanks a lot

University of Chicago
Northwestern
University of Illinois at Chicago

others fill in the rest...

illinois institute of technology
loyola chicago

Northwestern v Chicago .. As far as academic quality goes, these schools are VERY different. I personally believe that Northwestern offers a more practical and pre-professional education, whereas Chicago goes out of its way to make it known that it is not trying to prepare its students for the job force. Within the area, Northwestern seems to be more well-known, outside however, I think they are on the same level. Of course, there will be many who disagree with these views .

There are people in Chicago unaware of UChicago!?

As silly as it may sound, yes. They often mistake it for the various other universities with "Chicago" in the name.

Ah that makes sense now. I have a relative who goes went to "Chicago" and bragged he was at a better school than I. Naturally I assumed he meant UChicago; it turned out to be UIUC.

At the same time, maybe he mistook Columbia for Columbia College Chicago. Sigh.

One of the many reasons HYP(S) are on top is that they lack such issues of mistaken identity.
