meteor garden is pretty good...better than the ones afterwards

刚看过‘2046‘,觉得抽象过分,而且与‘花样年华‘太相似。王家卫作品对本人来说等于安眠药。虽然,也不可否认梁朝伟两部电影中的表演出众。恕本人直言。

some old french comedy worth watching, only chinese title available, sry

preparing more bizarre recommendations......
is everyone done with course registration for the fall? i'm confused with those abbreviations, numbers, sessioins, etc.
sigh.......

oh yeah...i'm totally lost in the course registration too

i've read the book 《钢铁是怎样炼成的》 (the old version) but haven't seen the movie yet. the book was quite deeply inspiring.

haha, yea, there are soo many course options at college. i just finished my registration at orientation. most of my classes were already required because of my major and the programs i'm in. with the one opening i had, i had to choose between vector calculus and chamber music. and since the former conflicted with my schedule, i happily chose the latter :)

Happy birthday yy0712~~ :)

shoot...i still haven't chosen my yet.must hurry.i'm panicking but too lazy to do anything about it.

thanks sweetbee. i'm about to explode from soo much food...i swear i'll triple in size by the end of the summer ;)
vanillaice, don't worry. don't you have to attend orientation to choose your classes?

我最最最(x100)崇拜的演员: 陈坤 and 刘亦菲....i swear, chen kun is the hottest guy ever (well, 霍建华 too) and liu yi fei is definately the prettiest girl (she's only 18!!) .. after i graduate from hs, i will get major plastic surgery to look like her..so pretty!

btw, i have watched lots of chinese movies / tv series. all of jet li's movies, 金粉世家, 别了温哥华,名扬花鼓 (all bec of chen kun) and LOTS of WUXIA tvseries!!

i love wuxia novels!!! hehe..sigh, i think i spend too much time watching tv and reading wuxia! haha XD

刘晓庆 18岁的时候也很好看, 而现在, 叹息ing...
人是会变的, 这位女同志年纪轻轻何必折磨自己

yea, i've seen 金粉世家 too. i liked the female characters in it but thought the 2nd half wasn't as good as it could have been. and 刘亦菲 was in it, wasn't she?
lol. i was just telling my parents how i want to shave my head bald for the summer because i'm so sick of washing/dying my hair...too much time and patience for me to bear.

haha...女同志...刘亦菲 > 刘晓庆 seriously, she's sooo pretty...oh, anyone watched 天下第一 too?

hey ali liu, i watched 天下第一 on KTSF

It's quite good:D 成是非 is a real jock and 一刀 is way cool.

Some quite interesting thoughts abt 忠 and the power struggles.

Very funny along the way.

And I really like GuLong's wu xia novels. Meditative in a way.

Hey, for those of you who are heading to Berkeley (SF area in general), definitely give a try to the Mexican chain restaurant "Baja Fresh". It provides possible some of the best mexican food outside of mexico. It's inexpensive and fresh all the way.

Real... Good. Yummy.

Food for thought.

hmmm...no offense to ali but i happen to really dislike liu yi fei.she doesn't really know how to act.and all the characters she chose are,not likable. in 金粉世家,she's this spoiled little brat who's always trying to mess things up for chen kun and dong jie.and in 仙剑, she's in this love triangle and i happen to prefer the other girl, lin yue ru. if you watch it you'll know why.
chen kun is cute! he's from my hometown you know, chongqing.i also like 刘烨A LOT. that's from mainland. from hong kong and all i like chen guan xi and yu wen le. ehhh...too lazy to type their chinese names but i think you guys can guess who they are.
for the actresses, hmmmm...i like liu ruo yin,who else...i don't really have one that i prefer. just have ones that i dislike. oh yeah!! i like 周迅!she's really unique.
just my opinions...

Sorry to interrupt this wonderful conversation---

Although i have done quite a bit research about universities in USA, I found that I am almost completely ignorant about universities in China.
AND I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP .

香港及大陆的朋友们, 有事要请教:

港大或是复旦?

My best friend in Shanghai was accepted at both Hongkong University and Shanghai Fudan University. He will choose major in science field at Fudan and not sure for HKU.

Would somebody who has knowledge about either/both of these schools please kindly provide me some information or advice?

some of my specific questions:
1) How do the academics compare? (Humanity/Business/Science?)

2) How's the job outlook for these schools' graduates?

3) Anything else about these schools that might be of a concern?

Thanks in advance! :)

Bowtoserenity bows to you :D

Hey Zhou,I just heard Tulane s quite generous in giving out financial aid. is tt true?does it provide financial aid to foreigners?is it a liberal arts college?

heyhey, bowtoserenity, did 一刀 marry hai tang or the other rich dude??? ihave to know! 5 more episodes left, can't wait any longer...XD

hey bowtoserenity, while you are waiting for some professional advice...here's my very unprofessional opinion (although i don't know much about chinese universities, esp those outside of beijing...)
rank-wise, HKU is generally higher internationally...so perhaps if your friend hopes to seek further degrees oversee, it would be a good choice.
here's a website about asia pacific university rankings. i know those aren't nearly 100% accurate, but you can just use it as a little reference.
<a href="http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/rank/2004/Top%20100%20Asia%20Pacific%20Universities.htm%5B/url%5D">http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/rank/2004/Top%20100%20Asia%20Pacific%20Universities.htm</a></p>

(and this site gives you all the ranking methodology and other info: <a href="http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/rank/2004/top500list.htm%5B/url%5D">http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/rank/2004/top500list.htm</a>)</p>

both 港大 and 复旦 are great schools. so it really depends on your friend's personal preferences.... which city does he like better/does he mind being away from home?/etc ...best of luck with his college selections.
