Chinese Thread

hmmm...i've heard ppl talking around me and most would say hong kong university is better.i'm not exactly sure why but that's the public opinion.i also don't know much about china's universities, sorry!

ali liu, 一刀 did kind of marry hai tang although....i don't want to spoil it ;)... LOTS of things happened in the last five episodes.

yy0712 and vanillaice, thanks for the advice. My friend finally decided to go to Fudan because Fudan has a lot of Yale-Fudan programs, also the expense in hongkong can be a burden, and Fudan is acutally opening a liberal arts curriculum (only for the first year students) this upcoming fall. Wish everyone enjoy the colleges...Thank you guys!

I almost panicked when I saw a recent mail from my school, which "kindly" reminded me that only 33 days left to go for my quite productless, nonethless feeling-good, summer.

when do you all go to school? :D

lol....i'm sure most of us feel the same. i mean, at least i do cos i'm too lazy.
i'm going to chicago before august 15 i think. haven't bought my tickets yet so i'm worse than you bowtoserenity. don't worry. hehe~~~

hehe..i'm here to promote my website again.

leave your comments too!

planning our future, LSAT, GMAT, GRE

wow okay its been like ages since i visited this board haha... anyways... china is super hot. especially xi'an... its like... a desert theres no water in any of the rivers its soooo sad when i grow up it almost makes me want to attempt to change this arrid thing, get educated in environmental science and teach these dumb leaders of china all of whom don't know anything and make stupid mistakes scientifically that leads to wasted resources. yeah... makes me mad that people build buildings without thinking that cement traps heat so xi'an is basically a heat trap with no trees and even though its suppose to be 37-38C... ground temperature is actually like 42-44C....

im loving it here.... but feeling rather extremely uncomfortable... kinda wanting to get back to u.s. for school... but im extremely surprised at how well my chinese has improved in the past MONTH haha... i think i learned like 5000 words just cuz im bored and i have nothing to do so im forced to read these books and i cant really pick the books since im just picking up what my cousins have and i also almost memorized all the bus routes and stuff haha yeah... fun....

but oooh i dont want to leave since its soooo good here with all my cousins and grandmother and grandfather and relatives.... yet here i feel like im in a dump cuz all my cousins are like failing their entrance tests and trying to go to a good highschool and stuff and i feel their depression and i feel like in u.s. im like... cream of the crop.... i think of myself as acceptably intelligent with an amazing future but yet these people... even if you went to beida... what lies in your future... my dad went there, and what is he? no better than someone in the states who went to a community college. signs****** okay im going crazy... kinda late... dont wanna stay at internet cafes at this time of the day..... gonnna go home and sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep and hopefully when i wake up my head is more clear

XO is back! i see the light of 1000 posts at the Chinese thread before school starts

LOL...you're right!HAHAHA i got my room assignment at my school back.FINALLY...

vanillaice, so you are going to live in school next year? That's nice!

As tangsdaily said, I feel trapped in the endless cycles of the so-called "life-planning".

It began with TOEFL -> SSAT, ISEE-> SAT I, II, ACT, AP-> GRE/ GMAT/ MCAT/ LSAT

The abundance of "choice" sometimes ironically leads to the inability to make a choice.

Anyone saw the movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"? It's wick-ed-ly funny.

yep. it's so ingeniously satirical. we watched it in class while reading king arthur. soo amusing.
vanillaice, awesome. just got my room assignment too. i was assigned to this all-girls dorm...yes, my parents are quite relieved. lol. have you found out about your roommate yet...or are you not going to have one? ...i'm pretty lucky that mine is a good friend from high school.
alright, hope everyone's happy with their future residences =)

mhnnnn.........i just recalled a movie "上海假日“, it's nothing related to Roman Holidays, but i think most of you here will find it interesting and kinda deep to watch. it's a little old, may be it was made 15 years ago
my college residence is a blow, Coed dorm, it means girls live next door to me. But the freshman dorm is old, and reminenscent of the boys dorm at Monte Vista.
my roomate is a Chinese i think, at least American born. too bad not a girl, hehehehhehe

mine's coed too,but my roommate's a girl. can you really have a guy and a girl living in one room if it's coed? isn't that a bit extreme? gosh, in china that's called 同居you know, which pretty means you guys are getting married.
darn it, i can't believe the meal plan's as expensive as the board plan. i mean, i don't eat that much!!! geez...

i was joking about coed thing.
it costs to live well in college, wustl's meal plan range from $4k to $7k(so called "plantinum....") wustl's annual cost is already among america's most deadly sigh...... and it's expected to rise 5-8% annually
钱乃身外职务

oops, i typed it wrong, 钱乃身外之物,

colleges have co-ed by floor, but most likely not co-ed rooms.

the only exception i know is that when queer people request special arrangements.

sometimes there are co-ed bathroom, which are....

比想歪啦 ;)

Hehe, the bathrooms are all co-ed at Vassar, well except this one all-female dorm. I was pretty shocked when I visited and stayed over night in April. But it's all right really...

co-ed bathrooms?? ...man, don't i feel lucky. lol. nono, i'm sure they aren't as bad as they sound.
the bathroom we got is connecting, which means we need to clean the freakin thing ourselves. but i'm sure my roommate will take care of that. :D j/k

same as yy0712...co-ed bathrooms???gosh...actually i don't know if i'll have that, cos i don't know whether i'll have my own bathroom with my roommate.and i won't live long in my dorm. will probably move out and live with my mom and bro in the winter.
i feel for you tangsdaily. 4k to 7k??? and i thought my 3k was expensive.

$45k a year for college, i'll get a sexy Audi A6, or the luxurious 红旗 instead

红旗 3.0+ i think, 4 years of college worth an Aston Martin Vanquish.
too bad i couldn't qualify Deep Spring
