Choate vs. The Hill School

I'm applying to some schools however I really like Choate Rosemary Hall and The Hill School. I was wondering if anyone knew anything that makes one school better that the other.

Thanks :)

I know more about Choate than Hill, so caveat emptor. Choate has a strong and diverse offering and is a standout in the arts. Hill has a reputation as a more conservative environment. Selecting the correct school for you is about fitting your aptitudes and interests to the schools’ strengths. Once you define those aptitudes and interests you can do a better job of selecting school prospects. Good luck.

Thanks, you advice has given me a better clarification of how to choose a school

Do you happen to know anything about the Orchestra program at Choate?

@Emu001, I’d suggest contacting each school directly. Here’s the link for Choate:

You should also consider Hotchkiss. Their music program is also terrific.

there both great schools can we please stop doing one school vs. another its stupid and there is no point to it, no two schools are the same they are both different in various ways.

@deerhotch, I’d recommend reading the thread, not just the header.

@kraordrawoh, Thanks again, I really appreciate it (:

YW! Good luck!!!

i did it was asking which one is better which a stupid questions because you cant say that choate is better than hill vis versus

Choate actually has an amazing chamber orchestra program… I was at one of their performances and I was blown away. They were invited this year to play at Carnegie Hall, but were not able to go due to some complications.

From my own experiences, I wasn’t all that impressed with Hill. I interviewed there, but decided not to apply. But of course, I am sure you will be happy at whichever boarding school you end up going to. :)

Sorry that I don’t know much about Hill, but I do know that the Choate Orchestra travels a great deal throughout Europe and Asia. I believe they also played at the White House. And if your interests do focus on music, Choate has an Arts Concentration program that allows you to focus your classes around your passion in the arts. More information: [Choate Rosemary Hall: Academics » Signature Academic Programs » Arts Concentration Program](http://www.choate.edu/academics/special_artsconcentration.aspx)

I agree that each school is great in different ways. Have you visited each campus? You can get a great feel for a school by being on campus, seeing the community, meeting some students, etc. Then it’s a matter of seeing which school feels more like you.

Good luck!
