I think there is a similar thread maybe from last year, but I can't find it now and also I remember there aren't many posts in that thread. Let's hear your knowledge, opinions and experience with these two schools. Which one would you choose?

I, personally, would chose Andover for various reasons. As much as these threads are helpful, we cannot judge what you want. I, if you want, can PM you a list of pros/cons based on my (however limited) understanding.

In the end, if you like both, you need to revisit and chose. If I remember correctly, you won the Oscar Tang Scholarship? Correct? That would be a serious pro, erring on the side of Andover.

Good luck with your choice, and remember you cannot go wrong with either.

Thanks, Principalviola. Sure, but I just thought this was an opportunity to know about both schools in another way (other than reading the schools' websites). I'll send you a PM for your "confidential" list of pros/cons. :)

Not confidential, I'll post here. :D

The cons have been stated throughout. Overall I think Andover outweighs Choate but you cannot go wrong with either. Good luck, and hope this helped.

Bumping... 10char

Hi, I'm a 3 year senior at Choate right now:
corrections:

SRP stands for science research program. We had four semifinalists this year at Siemens.
I would argue that we have a strong English department. Even though it is not as publicized as the other departments are, as as student, some of my favorite and best teachers have been English teachers.
We also have Choate/Deerfield day which is probably just as fun and exciting as Andover/Exeter day.

Andover also is known for their competition and pressure. I know many students who go there.

Hope this helps!

Hey thanks! I have a few questions, isn't Deerfield's main rival Hotchkiss? Deerkiss day, as I thought. Maybe not..'

Btw: I meant to put "Science research program" but I was having a chat with my parents about summer so I mixed it up. Thanks!

Hotchkiss has a longstanding rivalry with Taft...

Choate Pro: John Kennedy
Andover Con: George W. Bush

Agree! Jesus Christ how the HELL did Bush make it into Andover!!!!

His father went there and donated a bunch of oil money. The same thing happened when Bush went to Yale.

George H.W. Bush, however, was a good president and deserved to go to Andover.

There was a time, not really that long ago, when the Headmaster of certain prestigious schools could pick up the phone and call certain colleges and tell them who he was sending their way. Quite common until the 60's.

Yeah... Andover, until the 70s, could send anyone who wanted to go to Harvard and Exeter to Yale... Certain schools were built on the premise of sending people to certain colleges.

Today Hopkins, as it was built on this premise, sends many to Yale just as RL to Harvard.

Hi guys, I'm also facing this hard decision between Choate and Andover. I'm probably going to focus on history, english, etc. and less on math and science. Right now I'm leaning heavily on the side of Andover, but I want to make sure I don't make a decision without enough information. Btw I have visited Andover and loved it, but I haven't seen a class. I haven't visited Choate at all yet.
