I got WLed, too. How big is the pool, does anyone know?

my dad said only about 40 people.. but judging by how many people are WLed on this site, it must be at least 100!

waitlist at choate

Hm. How many do you think will withdraw?

i probably will

i'll withdraw if i get into andover.. which is looking down right now. I'm working on my letter to send to the office stating my case.

what should i say?

right now i have:

Dear Mr. Diffley,

well, if this sheds any light on your problem, about 10 kids from my school were accepted to choate, i myself was waitlisted...(plan on getting off it)

I feel like everyone is getting waitlisted at Deerfield, as well. It figures. They have the lowest acceptence rate, don't they?

I got accepted at Choate (international student) and I got waitlisted at Deerfield (Interview was not so great )

Yeah.. 16%, I believe.

I was waitlisted at both Choate & Deerfield.

choate is... confusing. all 11th graders i know are either rejected or waitlisted.

I thought Deerfield had the lowest, with 15%. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

They do. ^^ That's what I said.

I mean about the 15% part. Anyone know?

I thought they had sixteen percent.

Most likely acceptance rates went down again this year for the top 20-40 schools, so who knows where it will end up. In the case of Deerfield last year, I heard that the year before they had not estimated their yield correctly. As a result, more accepted students attended. For the class entering 2006-2007, the acceptance rate went down because they wanted to keep the number of students at their desired level (large 10th grade class with smaller 9th grade class). It will be interesting to find out if having the lowest acceptance rate from last year made even more people apply because many people interpret a lowest acceptance rate as the best school.
