I have a problem with Choate's online application.
Do we have to send the graded essay seperately then the online application?

Yeah, you send it in the mail.

My interview is near Feb., so when will they send me my interviewer's information?

What information would you need? Is it phone, alumni, or on-campus?

I was just wondering when will I know my interviewer's name, that's a part of my application.

Oh.

You could probably email the admissions office. I haven't even really started any of my applications! I'm so behind. hahaa

I had a tour/interview there, and it seemed like a really nice school. And, that dining hall was amazing!! But, I just don't think I could see myself going there.

Why not ?

Helenmelon, are you in Choate right now? By any chance a sophmore or freshman?

and yes, Choate is just amazing. I'm having the time of my life here!

Hey Johnathan, are you going to apply to summer @ brown?

Yeah, why?

Im applying to summer@brown.

I was thinking about applying to summer@brown, do they require GPA and all that jazz?

Yea, a transcript. But pretty much everyone gets accepted.

Thank you so much! =]

Are you applying to a high school right now?

I wish. Ive asked my parents so many times about boarding school, but there is no changing their mind. They don't want me leaving for a year. it sucks.

what is the average ssat to enter choate ? what do your grades have to be given a normal unhooked white male? Answer those questions and then get excited about the possibities.

Choate does have that one really large building where everything happens. really great when the weather sucks. Overall a great school for the right canidate

of course chinabananas :) I know who you are:)

you guys worrying about all this super-expensive summer stuff would be better off getting a job at the dairy queen. you'd have more fun, make some money, and believe it or not it actually looks better to colleges (no joke, read "a is for admissions" if you don't believe me).

I was wondering why "soccerstar" isn't playing soccer this summer? SuperY? ODP?

Gotta agree with lbftw about the best way to spend a summer. Especially if you're already at boarding school. Summer academic experiences give no added dimension to you -- or how you look to a college admission officer if that's what matters. Working at a DQ would expand your horizons way more than Summer@Brown.

I once was on a panel to hire 5 grad students for prestigious summer internships in Washington. I had to go through at least 500 resumes to come up with a group of 20 people to select for interviewing by the big wigs. The resumes all blended together and blurred with the same "made for academia" track, pretty much from high school on. The ones that stood out -- and got the coveted interview slots -- were NOT the people who did everything "by the book." One guy sold beer during the summer for Baltimore Orioles' games. We ALL wanted to meet him. (He actually DECLINED our offer!) Another had been a Navy SEAL between college and grad school -- without being committed by a ROTC obligation. He just signed up for the Navy and became a SEAL because that's what he wanted to do at the time. People like that stand out and are memorable to this day.

People who have taken control of their lives and aren't just going with the flow are appealing people. They're distinctive. Consider following your own muse and not the rest of the crowd's collective muse. For all you know, the cattle drive isn't taking you to a place you really want to go.
