Hello, everyone. I now have received all of my acceptation letters from colleges (and regrettably, a few rejections). I’m happy that I’ve gotten into some great colleges, but my mind is already moving on to other things, the foremost of these being what major (or a double major, which I’ve consider) I will take. This will decide while job offers I’ll get. I know that I want to do something in business, but I’m not sure exactly what at the moment (by business, I mean economics, finance, marketing, business administration etc) Deciding is of utmost importance, because different colleges include or have a lack of certain majors. For example, one my have finance but not economics, while another might have accounting but not finance. I’ll have to decide which major I’ll do, which will in turn decide what I’ll do in a job. Without any further ado, I’ll list as much about me as I can:
Strengths
I work well under stress. In fact, that’s the only time when I work well. One time in school, I had a huge paper due for ELA, and I didn’t write any utilities the last night before it was due. I finished it entirely in two hours (everyone else took a week) and got a 97%.
I’m an out of the box thinker. I’m often praised for my creative thinking. I’m also excellent at brainstorming.
I’m an excellent debater and public speaker. Unlike most people, I love speaking in front of people.
I’m good at connecting seemingly unimportant things.
I have a great poker face and am great at being unemotional
I’m a pessimist and always plan for the worst possible thing
I always have multiple ideas that I work on, so I’ll still have a backup plan
Weaknesses
Very stubborn and argumentive: I am very insistent on my ideas and don’t like to compromise
Scatterbrained. I often forget things and am disorganized
I find it difficult to focus and often get bored
I suck at small details. I like designing a high-level idea and leaving the small details to others.
I’m very insensitive and sometimes her other people to prove a point
I often stop working on old projects as soon as I think of something newer and more interesting
What I’m looking for in a job
- Good starting salary
- Career growth potential
- I want to get recognized for my work
Based on this, which major should I take? Thanks in advance for answering.
