So on the Brown supplement I need to pick a concentration but I can’t find Classics anywhere, what do I put instead?

idk. whatever interests you probs

Thats weird, because classics is a concentration at Brown. are you sure you picked AB concentrations?

I didn’t have it on AB haha thanks!

Just to be clear, you are not really choosing your concentration at the time of your application. You won’t officially do that until the end of your second year. You are telling Brown what you’re interested in at this time. There is a pretty big possibility that you will change your mind between now and then, which is fine.

So should I decide to change my concentration I am allowed to go into whatever I want? There are no impacted majors like the UC system has?

Yes. (10 char)

Thank you so much! Another question I have is that if I have no ECs in anything Classics but simply enjoy the topic in general would they view me as an applicant simply trying to get into a less competitive concentration and switching out later?

There is no notion of competitiveness among concentrations for purposes of admission, or anywhere down the line for that matter. Students don’t compete for the right to declare a particular concentration, and there are no quotas of any sort in place.

If you are alluding to the situation whereby declaring yourself to be interested in concentrating in Classics could potentially give you an edge up in admissions because it’s a “rare” concentration, and Brown wants a diverse class (hence “less competitive”), then I don’t think this enters much into the picture at all. Relatively speaking, Classics concentrators are not a rare breed at Brown.

Sounds good to me, thanks.
