Choosing a Military College

Hello, I have been accepted to the following Military Colleges:

-The Citadel
-Norwich University
-North Georgia College and State University

I am just wondering which may be the best in preparation for a military career that will transition into the private sector and which may look best on a resume?

Thank you

I’m familiar with grads of Norwich and Citadel - no slouches in either case. I believe grads are very supportive of fellow alumns. I’m not familiar with N GA.

Would you know which may have the upperhand between Norwich and Citadel, and why? Thank you. I just need to know a bit more so that I make the correct decision; because it’s really between those two, I don’t care for Georgia much.

To my knowledge, The Citadel is the most well-known of those which you have listed.

the citadel! its in beautiful Charleston. one of the most American places in the US. and its gorgeous

The Citadel is in SC and is a great place, but it is very hot and humid. Norwich is in Vermont and can be very cold, but great if you like winter sports. Norwich is the original ROTC program. Both schools have very good reputations. It just depends on your major. Many college grads end up living I the state where they go to school so the temps. and how you like the south versus the north will come into play.

No. Georgia College has a great reputation of turning out top notch officers. Dahlonega is a beautiful mountain town. My son was accepted to both N. GA and The Citadel and selected The Citadel. No. GA. Is not all military all the time like The Citadel.

Thank you for bringing up the temps in north vs south, i barely thought about this but it is a major factor…I totally forgot. So thanks again

Are there many complaints about The Citadel? Also, I am pursuing the business administration major.

The Citadel can be pretty brutal, esp. freshman year. Next door neighbor’s kid who attended a military boarding school for h.s. dreamed of going to The Citadel. He thought he could handle it. He didn’t make it through the first semester.

If you plan to have a military career and then transition into a civil career, the college you attend won’t matter very much. Your military career/accomplishments will be what future employers will notice.

Citadelmom is right. North Georgia turns out good Army officers. I believe it’s Army ROTC program is highly ranked among programs nationwide. S1 visited there but decided to go NROTC at our big state u. The area is beautiful.

Choose the school you like the best.

Why not just do ROTC at a proper university to get a proper education?

^Informative - your posts are neither informed nor appropriate, and demonstrate a complete lack of knowledge of the subject at hand. If you have something to contribute, please do so. Otherwise, please continue to lurk and learn.

OP - all three schools are excellent choices. As I’m sure you know, North Georgia (which will be re-branded as University of North Georgia soon) has only Army ROTC. If you are interested in AF or Navy, you’ll need to look at one of the other schools.

The Citadel is the only one of the three that doesn’t have a sizable civilian population on campus. Both Norwich and NG have “non-corps” options, which changes the flavor of the schools somewhat.

Regardless of which you choose, all will give you outstanding preparation for a military career, but Citadel probably has a more extensive alumni network than the other two, at least in the South - not sure about elsewhere in the country, though. This can help with post-military employment.

Have you visited all three, and are they equally affordable?
